Quench and Connect is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting schools in Uganda. Recognizing that health and good education are primary tools to lift a population out of poverty, the mission of Quench and Connect builds on two pillars:
   • to provide clean safe water to students
   • to provide educational tools that will
      significantly increase the academic
      achievement of the students

Throughout the developing world, the lack of clean water is a major impediment to social and economic development. Nearly 800 million people in the world do not have access to clean water, and it is estimated that more than 2.5 billion people are living in regions without any sort of sanitation system.

In 2000, world leaders at the United Nations announced their Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) for the world and, next to poverty and hunger, education was highlighted as a clear priority. The group recognized that education is key for the well-being, health and economic level of individual humans.

Educational Tools

Secondary school in Uganda encompasses a four year curriculum at “O” or Ordinary Level, and then students take national examinations to test into “A” or Advanced Level study. Only the brightest students are admitted to the final two year “A” Level program, to study a curriculum that will prepare them for tertiary education.
